Most chickens from our butchers are sourced locally from so-called “Label Rouge” certified farmers who assure free-range production practices. The result is flavoursome and firm meat that retains its texture even when stored in a refrigerator or freezer.
When chickens are free range, they are allowed to behave as nature intended, scratching and foraging for food. They can exercise their bodies by running, and wings by flying. Apart from the obvious welfare benefits of free-range birds, this less-intensive form of farming prevents the negative impact on the environment caused by intensive rearing and contributes to soil health by naturally airating and fertilising it.
